Abstract(s)
Na presente dissertação defende-se a tese de que a obra dos Heróis do Mar retoma alguns
dos pressupostos defendidos pelo grupo da Renascença Portuguesa e da revista Águia, no
qual a personalidade de Teixeira de Pascoaes se afigurava como tutelar.
Há nos Heróis do Mar, como nos homens da Renascença, a ideia de uma regeneração da
cultura portuguesa que, mesmo no caso da banda em análise, vai para lá da música. Existe
em ambos a reflexão acerca dos elementos constituintes da identidade portuguesa e uma
procura dos fundamentos daquilo que se convencionou chamar a alma nacional.
Um desses traços identitários encontra-se na saudade, presente na obra de Teixeira de
Pascoaes e de outros integrantes da Renascença, e visível também na obra dos Heróis do
Mar.
Ligada a ela surgem outros conceitos definidores do espírito nacional, nomeadamente o Sebastianismo e o sonho do Quinto Império.
In this dissertation, a thesis is defended that the work of Heróis do Mar retakes some of the assumptions of the group Renascença Portuguesa and of the Águia magazine, in which Teixeira de Pascoaes is considered a guardian figure. In the work of Heróis do Mar, as in the men of Renascença, there is an idea of regeneration of the Portuguese culture that even in the case of this band, it goes beyond its music. In both, there is a reflection on the constituent elements of the Portuguese identity and a search for the fundamentals of what is being known as the national soul. One of these identity traits lies in saudade, present in the work of Teixeira de Pascoaes and in others Renascença members- it is also visible in the songs of Heróis do Mar. Other defining concepts of the national spirit connected with the Renascença have arisen, namely sebastianism and the dream of the Fifth Empire.
