Abstract(s)
Bearing in mind the fact that the serpent is the most represented animal in Egyptian art, this text aims to identify and deal with the serpentes existent in the displayed objects of the permanent Egyptian collection of the Museu Calouste Gulbenkian – Lisbon, as well as the ones in the reserves, through a double analysis: hieroglyphic serpents and insígnia serpents, the latter including the uraeus serpents used by pharaohs and gods on their foreheads and solarized serpents for the protection of monuments/buildings.
