| dc.description.abstract | Durante dos siglos (entre mediados del s. xv y mediados del s. xvii), retórica y teología han establecido un diálogo proficuo en post de la renovación de los estudios teológicos (studia divinitatis), frente a la exhausta escolástica, recurriendo a las posibilidades concedidas por los estudios humanistas (studia humanitatis), mayormente la filología y la historia crítica. Ese diálogo sería interrumpido con la aparición de la manualística (fines del s. xvii) y la “muerte” de la retórica bajo los golpes del racionalismo (Descartes), del empirismo (Locke) y del jansenismo (Pascal). Una de las últimas expresiones de ese diálogo la encontramos en las obras del jesuita António Vieira, que aquí estudiamos en su doble función: como orador sacro y como teólogo. | pt_PT |
| dc.description.abstract | For two centuries (between the mid-fifteenth and mid-seventeenth centuries), rhetoric and theology have established a fruitful dialogue in favor of the renewal of theological studies (studia divinitatis), in the face of exhausted scholasticism, resorting to the possibilities granted by humanistic studies (studia humanitatis), mainly philology and critical history. This dialogue would be interrupted with the appearance of manualistics (end of the 17th century) and the “death” of rhetoric under the blows of rationalism (Descartes), empiricism (Locke) and Jansenism (Pascal). One of the latest expressions of this dialogue can be found in the works of the Jesuit António Vieira, which we study here in his dual function: as sacred orator and as theologian. | pt_PT |
