| dc.description.abstract | O multilinguismo Ć© um dos princĆpios fundadores da UniĆ£o Europeia (UE) e uma das caracterĆsticas que mais contribui para a identidade da Europa como uma comunidade intercultural e multilingue. Contudo, e apesar de nas instituiƧƵes europeias todas as vinte e quatro lĆnguas dos Estados Membros serem oficialmente aceites ā e ser encorajado, defendido e protegido o seu uso ā cada vez mais a lĆngua inglesa Ć© utilizada como lĆngua global, sendo a lĆngua que mais frequentemente Ć© comum a intervenientes com diferentes lĆnguas maternas. Nos PaĆses Baixos, o uso do inglĆŖs estĆ” bastante enraizado sendo utilizado em diversos contextos, desde o lazer ao contexto acadĆ©mico, passando pela comunicaĆ§Ć£o social. Se, por um lado, Ć© de grande utilidade e enriquecimento individual e coletivo o conhecimento que a maioria dos neerlandeses tem desta segunda lĆngua, por outro lado, serĆ” que hĆ” um impacto na identidade cultural do paĆs? O uso do inglĆŖs nos PaĆses Baixos tem sido de tal forma difundido e Ć© tĆ£o comum ouvir falar esta lĆngua que hĆ” quem fale do surgimento de uma nova lĆngua, Dutch-English ou Dunglish como fusĆ£o das duas lĆnguas. HĆ” mesmo quem defenda que o neerlandĆŖs estĆ” a ser negligenciado em detrimento do inglĆŖs. Existem diferentes pontos de vista em relaĆ§Ć£o a esta questĆ£o, que serĆ£o analisados, de forma a tentar perceber as implicaƧƵes do uso massivo da lĆngua inglesa nos PaĆses Baixos e qual o sentimento geral em relaĆ§Ć£o a esta situaĆ§Ć£o. | pt_PT |
| dc.description.abstract | Multilingualism is one of the founding principles of the European Union (EU) and one of the characteristics that most contributes to Europe's identity as an intercultural and multilingual community. However, despite the fact that in the European institutions all twenty-four languages of the Member States are officially accepted ā and their use is encouraged, defended and protected ā English is increasingly used as a global language, being the language that is more often common to actors with different mother tongues. In the Netherlands, the use of English is quite settled, being used in different contexts, from leisure to academic context and also the media. If, on the one hand, the knowledge that most Dutch people have of this second language is of great use and individual and collective enrichment, on the other hand, is there an impact on the country's cultural identity? The use of English in the Netherlands has been so widespread and it is so common to hear this language spoken that there are those who speak of the emergence of a new language, Dutch-English or Dunglish as a fusion of the two languages. Some even argue that Dutch is being neglected to the detriment of English. There are different points of view on this issue, which will be analysed in order to try to understand the implications of the massive use of the English language in the Netherlands and what is the general feeling concerning this situation. | pt_PT |
