As companhias aéreas low-cost apresentam-se como uma ameaça real às companhias
tradicionais, visto que os avultados custos que estas são forçadas a comportar ao propor um
serviço completo tornam impossível a concorrência direta baseada no fator preço. Várias
companhias tradicionais decidiram lançar a sua própria companhia low-cost, no entanto, foram
poucas as que alcançaram alguma rentabilidade. Pretende-se neste trabalho perceber quais são
os fatores que contribuem para o sucesso das companhias aéreas low-cost e que impacto estas
têm nas companhias tradicionais.
The low-cost airlines represent a serious threat to traditional companies, since the heavy costs they are required to bear, to offer a complete service, makes it impossible to direct competition through the price factor. Many traditional companies have chosen to launch its own low-cost airline, however, there were few who managed to stay profitable. It’s intended in this study to realize what are the factors that contribute to the success of low-cost airlines and what impact these have on traditional companies.
