| dc.description.abstract | A partir da análise da cronística portuguesa da Expansão, redigida na primeira metade do século XVI, analisa-se o modo como se descreveu o contacto com os espaços asiáticos. Assim a par da desocultação do conceito de Oriente reflecte-se sobre como se construiu uma presença portuguesa extra-europeia e como o domínio em mares e terras do Oriente se constituiu como o tópico narrativo de uma História que se escreve em Quinhentos. Interrogando os registos historiográficos sobre o império, a denominada cronística da expansão, expõe-se o «desenho» de uma permanência, a de um tempo longo, que se inaugura a partir do século XV, marcado pela conquista (domínio territorial) onde o encontro forja signos identitários, sendo força agregadora de uma influência formal, expressa pelo domínio da coroa portuguesa, ou informal, o denominado “império sombra”. Assim, o objecto matricial deste ensaio é entender como se entrecruzam as modalidades de permanência/ influência portuguesa nos espaços asiáticos e como as mesmas foram sendo transmitidas nestes alvores da Modernidade. | por |
| dc.description.abstract | Based on an analysis of the Portuguese chronicles of the Expansion, written in the first half of the 16th century, we analyse the way in which contact with Asian spaces was described. As well as unveiling the concept of the Orient, we reflect on how a Portuguese presence outside Europe was constructed and how domination of the seas and lands of the Orient became the narrative topic of a history written in the 16th century. Questioning the historiographical records of the empire, the so-called chronography of expansion, the “drawing” of a permanence is exposed, that of a long time, which begins in the 15th century, marked by conquest (territorial domination) where the encounter forges identity signs, being the aggregating force of a formal influence, expressed by the domination of the Portuguese crown, or informal, the so-called “shadow empire”. Thus, the main object of this essay is to understand how the modalities of Portuguese permanence/influence in Asian spaces intersect and how they were transmitted at the dawn of Modernity. | eng |
