Abstract(s)
In the last decade, Mozambique has been confronted with a considerable increase of illegal influxes of immigrants from Somalia . The political, economic and social crisis that this country has come across have fostered a exponential increase of migrant outflows, being Mozambique, one of the major receiving countries. In the public discourses, the majority of these immigrants has been associated to criminal networks as well as to illicit business. This study aims to examine the nature of these new migratory movements, by focusing on the identification of somalis’ immigratory trajectories and on their processes of settlement in mozambican society. In this context, special focus is, also, given to the analysis of the institutional management responses to this new migratory reality in Mozambique.
