- A cultura do Estado Novo (1930-1960)Publication . Melo, DanielDos anos 30 aos anos 50 muitas transformações se deram na cultura e na educação portuguesas, tal como no resto do mundo. Mas, estando então o país sujeito a uma das mais longas ditaduras contemporâneas, a mudança foi mais lenta e tiveram mais impacto as tendências autoritárias e conservadoras, bem como o papel do Estado. Com efeito, à I República marcada pela efervescência e pluralismo de intervenções – na afirmação de correntes modernistas, no reforço de experiências de democratização cultural como as universidades e bibliotecas populares, etc. – sucede uma Ditadura Militar, em 1926, cujo programa mínimo foi um nacionalismo de direita, inspirado na fórmula fascista italiana e em correntes autoritárias, integralistas (como o Integralismo Lusitano e a Action Française) e conservadoras (integrismo católico e democracia cristã). Com a constitucionalização desta ditadura em «Estado Novo», novas fontes de inspiração e diálogo emergem: o nazismo, o varguismo brasileiro, o franquismo e um certo modelo desenvolvimentista, controlado desde cima. Esta tensa convergência de influências e interesses será aproveitada por António de Oliveira Salazar para firmar a sua condição de ditador incontestado e inamovível, arbitrando vontades e compondo equilíbrios em prol duma superior política nacional, que de tudo se ocupará, incluindo duma cultura que serve para trabalhar a imagem do regime e duma instrução pública que serve agora a «educação nacional». Se no campo literário a oposição tem ascendente duradouro, já nas artes plásticas e na arquitectura o regime consegue aliciar muitos modernistas, para conciliarem formulações de vanguarda com a exaltação do nacional, do historicista, do tradicional e da sugestão folclórica. Na educação, a escola oficial torna-se um espaço central. Abrindo o foco, as contradições e conflitos internos mais marcantes deste período fizeram-se em torno da relação entre tradição e moderno, entre particular e universal, entre formação para grupos restritos ou para todos, entre quantidade e qualidade, entre autonomia e controle artístico. Este regime fechado – por natureza mais avesso a mudanças – marcará de modo indelével a evolução da cultura e da educação. Desde logo porque a expressão do pensamento e o pluralismo serão fortemente cerceados, com a propaganda, a censura e a repressão políticas, sustentáculos essenciais da «nova ordem». Ainda assim, subsiste algum experimentalismo vanguardista e afirmam-se novas correntes artístico-literárias, como os modernistas da revista Presença (1927-40), os neo-realistas, os surrealistas, todos contrários à ditadura. A estas acrescem tendências existencialistas, mundividências espirituais marcadas pelo catolicismo e/ou pelo neo-romantismo, além de se reforçar a corrente nacionalista.
- "National frozen fish distributor”: paradigmatic case study of an african company for operational productivity improvementPublication . Lopes, Albino; Acabado Romana, Fernando; Barrosa, Luis Filipe Mendes; Martins, António Eduardo Pais Falcão BarbosaThis paper develops a case study regarding the intervention requested by the leader of the Mozambican company "DNPC" (to consolidate the leadership and management of the company, in the context of the transition to the situation of a large company). In terms of diagnosis, there are four aspects that emerge as the most salient of this business initiative: (i) the differentiation of the company in relation to the commercial orientation of the company in order to respond to the most basic needs of the poor population (provide the supply of frozen fish); (ii) the traditional African culture centred on "affections", with the perverse effect of inducing a very high absenteeism of drivers, which would, in turn, make the flow of supply from popular markets unfeasible; (iii) the response to the initial chaos by the development of a business culture in an entrepreneurial network, both internally (drivers) and externally (sales companies and security elements of the financial flows generated); (iv) promotion of an organization of work based on a meaning based on autonomy and liberation from the hierarchical submission of the worker, and designed not to force him to exclusion from society and to move away from traditional African values.

- A supervisão pedagógica na formação de profissionais: contributos para a alteração das práticas formativasPublication . Lopes, Fernanda; Henriques, SusanaEste artigo baseia-se numa pesquisa realizada no contexto do Mestrado em Supervisão Pedagógica na Universidade Aberta, com o objetivo de entender qual o papel da supervisão pedagógica (SvP) nas práticas formativas, compreender o seu papel no desempenho profissional dos trabalhadores, analisar a perceção dos decisores da formação sobre modelos de supervisão e identificar os modelos de SvP presentes na formação contínua da Autoridade Tributária e Aduaneira (AT). No estudo, optouse por uma abordagem mista de estudo de caso com finalidade exploratória e descritiva e foram empregues como técnicas de recolha de dados o inquérito por entrevista. Os resultados revelaram mudanças nas práticas formativas, visando preparar os funcionários para as suas funções atuais e futuras. A SvP da formação na AT mostrou-se pouco estruturada, com diferentes níveis e atores envolvidos, predominantemente vertical e diretiva, embora haja indícios de supervisão colaborativa.
- Common techniques, success attack factors and obstacles to social engineering: a systematic literature reviewPublication . Lopes, António; São Mamede, Henrique; Reis, Leonilde; Santos, ArnaldoKnowledge of Social Engineering is crucial to prevent potential attacks related to organizational Information Security. The objective of this paper aims to identify the most common social engineering techniques, success attack factors, and obstacles, as well as the good practices and frameworks that could be adopted concerning their mitigation. As an analysis methodology, a Systematic Literature Review was carried out. The findings revealed that the discussion about SE attacks has increased and that the most imminent threat is phishing. Exploiting human vulnerabilities is a growing threat when the attack is not carried out directly through technical means. There continue to be more technical attacks than non-technical attacks. Encouraging organizational security prevention, like training, education, technical controls, process development, defense in detail, and the development of security policies, should be considered mitigating factors for the negative impact of SE attacks. Most SE frameworks/models are focused on attack techniques and methods, mostly on technical components, decorating human factor. As a novelty, we found the opportunity to develop a new framework that could improve coverage of the gaps found, supported on security international standards, that could help and support researchers in developing their work, understanding open research topics, and providing a clearer understanding of this type of threat.
- Drawn onto a skybox: an invitation to collaborative immersive drawing using the spheri platformPublication . Araújo, António; Olivero, Lucas FabianWe describe an installation that invites the audience to collaborate on the performance of immersive drawings that will be visualized on-the-fly using the custom hardware-software platform Spheri. These drawings are made on a flat surface using traditional physical materials and following a modular tracing process that helps the user conform to the rules of cubical spherical perspective. Concurrently with the drawing performance, the Spheri platform captures the drawing and converts it into an immersive VR visualization on-the-fly, while tracking the drawing motion and choosing the camera viewpoint accordingly. The installation explores the new media of immersive handmade perspectives as well as new forms of intuitive and performative visualization. Countering the expectations of digital media as instruments for efficiency and ease of production, it aims instead at leading the user into slow and pondered geometrical thinking through handmade immersive drawing.
- Herbrandized modified realizabilityPublication . Ferreira, Gilda; Firmino, PauloRealizability notions in mathematical logic have a long history, which can be tracedback to the work of Stephen Kleene in the 1940s, aimed at exploring the foundations ofintuitionistic logic. Kleene’s initial realizability laid the ground for more sophisticatednotions such as Kreisel’s modified realizability and various modern approaches. Inthis context, our work aligns with the lineage of realizability strategies that emphasizethe accumulation, rather than the propagation of precise witnesses. In this paper, weintroduce a new notion of realizability, namely herbrandized modified realizability.This novel form of (cumulative) realizability, presented within the framework of semi-intuitionistic logic is based on a recently developed star combinatory calculus, whichenables the gathering of witnesses into nonempty finite sets. We also show that theprevious analysis can be extended from logic to (Heyting) arithmetic.
