- The Redner–Ben-Avraham–Kahng coagulation system with constant coefficients: the finite dimensional casePublication . Costa, Fernando Pestana da; Pinto, João Teixeira; Sasportes, RafaelWe study the behaviour as t → ∞ of solutions (cj (t)) to the Redner–Ben-Avraham–Kahng coagulation system with positive and compactly supported initial data, rigorously proving and slightly extending results originally established in [4] by means of formal arguments.
- Implementation of internal control systems to combat money laundering and financing of terrorism : an applied exploratory study to the Angolan financial sectorPublication . Pinho, CarlosThe Angolan financial system is observing several regulatory changes that are being adopted by local banks at a considerable speed in the last years. Considering the pressured context in which such changes are being internalized, this study is intended to ascertain the level of implementation and the way that control systems are being adopted by the Angolan financial institutions, in order to prevent and combat money laundering and financing of terrorism. A survey was submitted to the banking institutions that operate in the Angolan financial sector with the purpose of understanding to what extent prevention controls and mechanisms for money laundering and financing of terrorism have been implemented, and identify the main difficulties that banking institutions are facing on the adoption of such controls and mechanisms. Using a descriptive analysis, the results show that the banking institutions consider to have implemented control systems that are capable of mitigating the risk of money laundering and financing of terrorism. The results also show that, although there are formal and concrete policies in place, the Angolan banking institutions possess deficient control tools in terms of information systems and data management and lack adequate staff training which potentially threatens the effectiveness of the controls that have been implemented.
As escalas de sobrecarga do cuidador utilizadas foram Zarit Burden Interview e Montgomery-Borgatta Caregiver Burden Scale-Revised e os instrumentos de avaliação da qualidade de vida: The World Health Organization Quality of Life-BREF Scale; Self-report questionnaires; The Ulm Quality of Life Inventory for Parents of chronically ill children; Asthma Caregiver Quality of Life Questionnaire; Perfil de Saúde de Nottingham Health Profile.
- Using myths to find your way : pathways to bliss book by Joseph CampbellPublication . Sousa, Ivo Dias de“Pathways to Bliss: Mythology and Personal Transformation” by Joseph Campbell is a book like no other I have read – a sort of mythological self-help book. On one hand, the main message is quite common: find your passion, follow it with responsibility and persistence. On other hand, the main message is quite uncommon: it advices the reader to use myths to find and follow his bliss. By other words, the book explains how world mythology can help our personal growth and transformation. Joseph Campbell (1904-1987) was an author and professor known for his work in comparative mythology. Campbell studied medieval literature at Columbia University. After the Columbia University, he travelled to Europe, to attend universities in Paris and Munich. His work is influenced by writers like James Joyce and Thomas Mann, artists like Pablo Picasso and Henri Matisse, and psychiatrists like Sigmund Freud and Carl Jung. Joseph Campbell formulated the theory that “all myths and epics are linked in the human psyche, and that they are cultural manifestations of the universal need to explain social, cosmological, and spiritual realities”.
