Abstract(s)
educadoras e à coordenadora do departamento do pré-escolar, e a observação planeada
igualdade, inclusão, cidadania e do crescimento cognitivo e socioemocional. Reajustada a
The study was motivated by the following question: the School Library as a support to the curriculum for the transversal and contextualized integration of literacies: what possibilities of implementation at the preschool education level? In this context, the project “A Rádio no Ar com a Biblioteca Escolar e o Pré-Escolar” (The Radio is On with the School Library and the Preschool) was conceived, implemented and evaluated, in the 2019/2020 academic year, at the Arganil School Group, in a period of abrupt transition to distance learning, caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Methodologically, a mixed approach was adopted in a case study, embodied in nine preschool classes, through the project methodology, in several spaces: School Library, Classroom, Home and Rádio Clube de Arganil. In addition to the children, their educators and the librarian teacher, two professionals from the radio also participated. For data collection, the survey by questionnaire and interview, addressed to the educators and the coordinator of the preschool department were considered, complemented by the planned observation of each radio program. For data analysis, descriptive statistics and content analysis were used. The results confirm that collaborative work and curriculum articulation, child-focused pedagogies, the diversity of educational environments and innovative practices add value to the preschool curriculum, and promote meaningful learning. They also evidence the importance of the School Library in promoting equality, inclusion, citizenship and cognitive and socio-emotional growth. After readjusting the action of the School Library to the new reality of that time, support was maintained for the development of skills and literacies, as indicated in the referential Learning with the School Library and in the Profile of Students Leaving Compulsory Schooling, in compliance with the Curriculum Guidelines for Preschool Education. In short, given the impact of the project on the educational community, it will certainly inspire other initiatives to be carried out by and with the School Library, in the same school or in other schools.
