Abstract(s)
mudar.
The present research project consists in a study on the aspects of the development process of the pragmatic competence of Portuguese as a “Non Native Language”, in Johannesburg, South Africa. Through the implementation, in classroom context, of an analysis process of a corpus constituted and delimited for this purpose, it was tried to identify and ascertain the difficulties that the sample participants reveal on the application of aspects of the pragmatic competence development, in diverse contexts, particularly regarding the courtesy and/or politeness. The results show that the language, being a social act, only makes sense if all the actors are tuned and shared knowledge, verifying that this gradual "inter-comprehension" denotes the communicative competence development of the learners. Most learners have also shown to have a real linguistic level that allows them to understand indirect speech acts, according to the Principle of Courtesy and/or Dimension of Delicacy. Moreover, having the notion of the difficulty of the development of the pragmatic competence, by individuals learning a non-native language, it was verified that they, in different contexts and situations in which they are, adapt their communicative acts in function of the knowledge acquired through the mother tongue. Finally, this study demonstrates the importance of Pragmatics in general, and politeness in particular, as an alternative strategy for the development of interactive skills in the PFL teaching-learning process, helping to promote peaceful coexistence among citizens in a socialized world that it is urgent to be changed.
