Abstract(s)
monitoramento em sustentabilidade, no cotidiano de suas respectivas unidades de plantio;
Agricultural systems are essential to food production, as they ensure and sustain the vital needs of people in the world, more than any other segment. Studies show that, in developing countries, half of the workers participate in the labor force in agricultural systems, and that agriculture also supplies raw materials to secondary and tertiary sectors of the economy. On the other hand, they are at the forefront of almost all urgent global challenges: from hunger and malnutrition to climate change, loss of biodiversity and scarcity of drinking water. The main objective of this dissertation is to analyze the perception of family farmers about sustainable agriculture and about the current system of Indicadores de Sustentabilidade em Agroecossistemas (ISA) of the Empresa de Pesquisa Agropecuária de Minas Gerais (EPAMIG) based on their knowledge and knowledge. The methodology was described based, in addition to the bibliographical review, on documentary and institutional research, as well as on the combination of deductive and inductive actions, that is: i) describe the perceptions of farmers about agricultural practices and ways of monitoring sustainability, in the daily life of their respective planting units; ii) analyze the perception of farmers in relation to the system of sustainability indicators existing in Minas Gerais, Brazil; iii) identify, in the local context, indicators proposed by farmers for voluntary assessment and monitoring of sustainable agriculture practices. The results obtained and discussed enabled contributions to support the formulation of public policies, in addition to non-formal indicators considered by stakeholders, appropriate for sustainable agriculture, according to the local reality.
