A sociedade portuguesa apresenta-se, hoje, com uma nova faceta cultural. Esta mescla
populacional permitiu, desde 2011, que os alunos imigrantes possam ter acesso ao estudo da
língua portuguesa.
O ensino do Português Língua de Acolhimento (PLA) é uma ferramenta essencial de
inclusão de alunos imigrantes, que permite que estes possam participar ativamente do
ambiente escolar e se integrar na comunidade local. Neste contexto, é fundamental
compreender a importância do ensino do PLA e como este pode contribuir para a educação
inclusiva e de qualidade.
Este estudo de caso pretende apresentar o ponto de situação em que se encontra a
aprendizagem da língua de acolhimento. O estudo incidirá sobre a implementação de um
inquérito aos alunos inscritos na disciplina de PLA, numa escola na cidade do Porto. A
análise dos resultados apresentados, a partir do preenchimento de um questionário,
possibilita obter respostas sobre a implementação destas medidas educativas e estratégias
pedagógicas adotadas. O papel do professor e os desafios apresentam-se como ferramentas
essenciais para garantir a efetiva inclusão desses alunos na comunidade.
Portuguese society presents itself, today, with a new cultural facet. This population mix has allowed, since 2011, immigrant pupils to have access to the study of the Portuguese language. The teaching of Portuguese as a Host Language (PLA) is an essential tool for the inclusion of immigrant students, which allows them to actively participate in the school environment and integrate into the local community. In this context, it is crucial to understand the importance of teaching PLA and how it can contribute to inclusive and quality education. This case study aims to present the state of play of host language learning. The study will focus on the implementation of a survey of students enrolled in the subject of PLA in a school in the city of Porto. The analysis of the results presented, from the completion of a questionnaire, allows to obtain answers about the implementation of these educational measures and pedagogical strategies adopted. The role of the teacher and the challenges are presented as essential tools to ensure the effective inclusion of these students in the community.
