A ideia que no século passado se possuía sobre uma Europa pronta para uma união sólida, duradoura e habilitada a responder aos mais difíceis desafios, essencialmente a partir do momento em que foi ratificado o Tratado de Roma, não passa hoje de uma quimera devido aos litígios e à incerteza que campeiam neste velho Continente, em consequência da orientação política desastrada que a União Europeia tem vindo a desenvolver nas últimas décadas, assim como os seus Estados-Membros.
The idea we brought from last century of an Europe ready for a solid union, ever lasting and able to respond to the most difficult challenges, essentially from the moment the Treaty of Rome was ratified, is today nothing more than a chimera due to the disputes, and the uncertainty that prevails in this old continent, as a result of the disastrous political orientation that the European Union has been developing in the last decades, as well as its Member States.
