Abstract(s)
Este trabalho tem como finalidade analisar a figura do herói e do anti-herói medievais
revisitados em “Arras por foro de Espanha”, de Alexandre Herculano. Procedemos a uma
comparação com a fonte de inspiração do conto de Alexandre Herculano, a Crónica de D.
Fernando, de Fernão Lopes. Detivemo-nos, sobretudo, nas personagens, procurando
identificar herói(s) e anti-herói(s), com destaque para as figuras de D. Fernando e de D.
Leonor Teles. O ponto de vista adotado, ao nível metodológico, foi o dos Estudos
Comparados e dos Estudos sobre o Imaginário. Identificados os perfis dos heróis e dos
anti-heróis, analisámos as suas ações tendo como pressuposto a obra O herói de mil faces de
Joseph Campbell. Foram igualmente objeto de análise e de reflexão as eventuais motivações
e estudados, ainda que de forma sucinta, os autores das obras que serviram de base à nossa
dissertação. Tanto Fernão Lopes como Alexandre Herculano, através da investigação,
análise e, sobretudo, da sua arte criativa, deixaram um legado importante não só ao nível
cultural como social. O conhecimento que esse legado nos faculta, nomeadamente, no que
se refere às consequências das nossas ações, visa alertar para os efeitos nocivos que podem
advir de um comportamento contrário à ética e à moral, quer seja em termos individuais,
quer seja em termos coletivos.
This work aims to analyse the profile of the medieval hero and antihero revisited in "Arras por foro de Espanha" by Alexandre Herculano. We made a comparison with the source of inspiration of the tale of Alexandre Herculano, the Chronicle of D. Fernando, by Fernão Lopes. We looked, above all, at the characters, trying to identify hero(s) and anti-hero(s), especially D. Fernando and D. Leonor Teles. The point of view adopted, at the methodological level, was that of comparative studies and studies on the imaginary. Having identified the profiles of heroes and anti-heroes, we analysed their actions based on Joseph Campbell's The Hero with a Thousand Faces. The authors of the works that served as the basis for our dissertation were also the object of analysis and reflection. Both Fernão Lopes and Alexandre Herculano, through research, analysis and, above all, their creative art, left an important legacy not only at cultural but also at social level. The knowledge that this legacy provides us, namely in what concerns the consequences of our actions, aims at alerting to the harmful effects that may come from a behaviour contrary to ethics and morals, either in individual or collective terms.
