This Applied Project, entitled From Entrepreneurship to Sport: The Influence of the Entrepreneurial Ecosystem on the Development of Rural Tourism Projects in the Portalegre Region, aims to analyse the role of entrepreneurship in regional development, exploring its contributions to economic, social and environmental sustainability, with a focus on the Portalegre region, in the context of the creation and development of rural tourism projects linked to sport. The Applied Project focuses on analysing the role of entrepreneurship in regional development and its contributions to sustainability. This theoretical framework supports the core of the Applied Project: the development of an applied business plan for a rural tourism enterprise linked to sport. The proposed project aims to enhance the natural and cultural resources of the Portalegre region, promoting experiences that combine sport, contact with nature and sustainable practices. Methodologically, the Applied Project adopts an exploratory mixed-methods approach. The qualitative component is based on document analysis and a review of the literature on entrepreneurship, rural tourism and sport. Complementarily, the quantitative component involves the application of a questionnaire to practitioners of physical activity and potential users of rural sports tourism experiences, allowing the collection of empirical data relevant to defining the target audience and the project’s value proposition. The data collected were analysed using descriptive statistics and simple cross-tabulations, with the support of SPSS software. The business plan includes market analysis, marketing strategies, operational structure and financial estimates, enabling the assessment of the project's viability and its regional impact. This Applied Project proposes a business model tailored to the Portalegre context, contributing to the development of the local entrepreneurial ecosystem and strengthening the link between innovation, sustainability and sport in rural settings.
