Energia nuclear em Portugal: não, obrigado?

| dc.description.abstract | As alterações climáticas, marcadamente visíveis, principais responsáveis pela degradação do nosso planeta, são um facto inegável. Largamente impulsionadas pelo boom energético, assente na queima desenfreada de combustíveis fósseis, desde meados do século passado e que se perspetiva cada vez mais acelerado. A premência da mudança de paradigma reúne consenso mundial. Portugal ao apostar nas energias renováveis trilha caminho tentando alcançar a neutralidade carbónica. Pese embora o esforço, as intermitências climatéricas, assoladas de elevada imprevisibilidade, comprometem, claramente este objetivo. Sendo, por isso, desejável e necessário adotar um mix energético que colmate as crescentes necessidades energéticas, onde a energia nuclear, preterida em Portugal, poderá assumir papel fundamental, contribuindo, na atualidade, com uma décima parte da energia elétrica produzida a nível mundial. Neste trabalho, após breve enquadramento teórico da energia nuclear, aplicou-se uma metodologia que visa perceber a atitude face ao nuclear de uma amostra populacional específica, nomeadamente os estudantes da Licenciatura em Ciências do Ambiente (LCA) da Universidade Aberta. Para tal, aplicou-se um questionário global, exceto no reporte à unidade curricular Novas Energias da LCA, onde o assunto foi debatido com alguma profundidade, lecionada aos participantes. No entanto, o reduzido âmbito populacional traduziu-se numa pequena quantidade de dados coletados, repercutindo-se numa dificuldade na identificação de tendências com validade estatística. A análise foi efetuada com o recurso, maioritariamente, às técnicas de regressão. Foi possível identificar, apenas, oito tendências com significado estatístico. Contudo, fica preparado um questionário que possa ser traduzido, futuramente, para toda a população portuguesa. | pt_PT |
| dc.description.abstract | The markedly visible climate change, primarily responsible for the degradation of our planet, is an undeniable fact. Largely driven by the energy boom, based on the unbridled burning of fossil fuels, since the middle of the last century and which is expected to accelerate. The urgency of the paradigm shift gathers worldwide consensus. By investing in renewable energies, Portugal is leading the way in trying to achieve carbon neutrality. Despite the effort, climate intermittency and unpredictability clearly compromises this goal. It is therefore desirable and necessary to adopt an energy mix that meets the growing energy needs, where nuclear energy, which is neglected in Portugal could play a fundamental role, currently contributing one tenth of the electrical energy produced worldwide. In this work, after a brief theoretical framing of nuclear energy, a methodology was applied in order to understand the attitude towards nuclear energy of a specific population sample, namely the students of the Environmental Sciences Licentiate Degree (LCA) at Universidade Aberta. To this end, a global questionnaire was applied, except for the report to the curricular unit New Energies at LCA, where the subject was discussed with some depth, taught to the participants. However, the reduced population scope resulted in a small amount of collected data, making it difficult to identify trends with statistical validity. The analysis was carried out using mainly regression techniques. It was possible to identify only eight statistically significant trends. However, a questionnaire has been prepared that may be translated, in the future, to the whole portuguese population. | pt_PT |
