O descontentamento dos militares (1910-1926) na Imprensa Periódica Portuguesa

Para contextualizar esta Tese, que visa identificar o Descontentamento dos Militares durante a I República Portuguesa (1910-1926)”, procedi a uma investigação em fundos arquivísticos institucionais e consultei vinte e três jornais e seis revistas da época, em estudo. Estes constituíram as fontes iniciais da pesquisa. Destacam-se os arquivos históricos da Marinha e do Exército, o Arquivo da Torre do Tombo, o Arquivo da Assembleia Nacional e o Arquivo do Ministério dos Negócios Estrangeiros.
Para complementar esta pesquisa e a introdução das bibliografias primária e secundária utilizadas, recorri a diversas bibliotecas, nomeadamente a Biblioteca Nacional de Portugal, a Biblioteca Calouste Gulbenkian, a Biblioteca do Exército, a Biblioteca da Liga dos Combatentes, a Sociedade de Geografia, o Patriarcado de Lisboa, a Hemeroteca de Lisboa e a Biblioteca Geral da Universidade de Coimbra, entre outras.
Este processo de pesquisa permitiu-me atingir novas metas de conhecimento e distinguir conceitos essenciais para uma análise rigorosa da época da I República, como os de Boa Governança e Herói. Estes conceitos foram fundamentais para aprofundar a compreensão do contexto histórico e social da Primeira República.
Por outro lado, explicitar como ocorreu a boa governança neste mesmo período, em diversos setores sociais e, finalmente, refletir sobre o período de 1910 a 1926, em Portugal.
A principal inovação da Tese reside na recolha sistemática, na imprensa da época, de determinados acontecimentos que comprovam a existência de descontentamento militar.
To contextualize this thesis, which aims to identify “Military Discontent during the Portuguese First Republic (1910–1926)”, I conducted research in institutional archival collections and consulted twenty-three contemporary newspapers and four reviews that stand out. These periodicals served as the initial sources for the investigation. Notable archives included those of the Navy and Army Historical Archives, the Torre do Tombo National Archive, the National Assembly Archive, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Archive. To complement this research and the introduction of primary and secondary sources used in the study, I also called upon several libraries, such as the National Library of Portugal, the Calouste Gulbenkian Library, the Army Library, the Library of the League of Combatants, the Geographical Society Library, the Patriarchate of Lisbon Library, the Lisbon Newspaper Library, and the General Library of the University of Coimbra, among others. This research process enabled me to reach new levels of understanding and to distinguish fundamental concepts, necessary for a rigorous analysis of the period of the First Republic, namely, Good Governance, and Hero. These concepts were key to deepen new perspectives on the selected historical context of the First Republic. On the other side was important to explain how good governance occurred in different welfare sectors and finally, to reflect about the period of 1910 to 1926 in Portugal. The innovative aspect of this thesis lies in the systematic collection, from the contemporary press, of key events that testify military discontent.
