[S.l.]: s.n.], 2022. 128 p.http://hdl.handle.net/10400.2/12800A presente investigação visa conhecer a preocupação da relação entre Educação e Interculturalidade na cidade de New Bedford dos Estados Unidos da América (EUA), na perspetiva dos professores e dos membros de centros, associações e museus culturais, bem como, aferir a sensibilidade dos mesmos, para a importância da interculturalidade em contexto educativo, de modo a potenciar o ensino da aprendizagem cultural mais universal. Com esta visão e numa tentativa de compreender relação existente entre a educação e a interculturalidade na cidade de New Bedford, temos por objetivo demonstrar, corroborar e atestar que a importância da educação intercultural, deve ser um elemento fundamental no ensino da educação para a cidadania, bem como, na construção intercultural, pluricultural e multicultural das nossas sociedades. Após análise dos dados, os 40 participantes, de entidades públicas e privadas de ensinos escolares e membros culturais de algumas instituições privadas da cidade de New Bedford, nas suas diversas respostas demonstram preocupações interculturais, quando afirmam que estão totalmente de acordo no que diz respeito à preocupação em apoiar a liberdade de expressão cultural do outro, bem como quando referem a importância do contributo para a valorização dos saberes sociais e populares, e ainda quando referem que todos nós temos uma identidade com múltiplas facetas. Relativamente aos resultados os professores e membros de centros, associações e museus culturais de New Bedford dos EUA acharam importante a presença da interculturalidade no contexto educativo. Concluímos que 57% dos inquiridos referem a escola como contexto mais adequado e apropriado para o ensino de uma educação intercultural. O contexto escolar leva a que a educação intercultural seja vista como um ponto de partida para o desenvolvimento de consciências interculturais, em que cada indivíduo contribui para o desenvolvimento da mesma.The present research aims at understanding the relationship between the education and interculturalism in the city of New Bedford in the United States of America (USA), from the perspective of teachers and members of cultural centers, associations, and museums, as well as to assess their sensitivity to the importance of interculturalism in the educational context, in order to enhance the teaching of a more universal cultural learning. With this vision, and in an attempt to understand the relationship between education and interculturalism in the city of New Bedford, we aim to demonstrate, corroborate and attest that the importance of intercultural education should be a fundamental element in the teaching of citizenship education, as well as in the intercultural, pluricultural and multicultural construction of our societies. In the data analysis, the 40 participants, from public and private schools and cultural members of some private institutions in the city of New Bedford, in their various responses demonstrate intercultural concerns, when they state that they fully agree with the concern to support the freedom of cultural expression of the Other, as well as when they refer to the importance of contributing to the valorization of social and popular knowledge, and when they state that we all have an identity with multiple facets. Regarding the results, the teachers and members of cultural centers, associations and museums in New Bedford in the USA considered important the presence of interculturality in the educational context. We conclude that 57% of the respondents refer to school as the most suitable and appropriate context for teaching intercultural education.
