Os autores adoptam o traçado do rio como eixo condutor da estrutura do trabalho, analisando, selectivamente, os povoados e sua organização, as práticas cultuais e funerárias, a marcação e apropriação das paisagens, a produção e troca de alguns dos materiais utilitários e de prestígio. Dessa análise decorre a identificação de determinados elementos culturais que traduzem homogeneidade identitária, enquanto outros serão o resultado da existência de barreiras entre as comunidades. Algumas delas estenderam o olhar bem para além do rio, estabelecendo contactos e contribuindo para uma aproximação entre o interior e o litoral da Península Ibérica, e, de forma geográfica mais alargada o norte, atlântico e o sul, mediterrâneo.This paper deals with the cultural uniformity and the cultural diversity in the Portuguese area of the Tagus basin during the Late Bronze Age. It focuses, in particular, on the economic and social spheres. The course of the river serves as the central axis of the author’s narrative. They selectively analyse the settlements and their organisation, the religious and funerary practices, the demarcation and appropiation of landscapes and the production and exchange of utilitarian and prestige objects. This approach makes it possible to recognise cultural elements linked to an homogeneus identity, while detecting others that result from barriers between the communities.
