É analisado o impacto que o Decreto-Lei n.º 23122, de 1933-10-11, teve nos planos da classificação, do inventário e da conservação e restauro dos pelourinhos de Portugal continental e insular, no período correspondente ao meio século que se seguiu à revolução de 25 de abril de 1974. Constitui uma análise diacrónica e heurística, com o objetivo de compreender como evoluiu o universo do pelourinho português, ao longo da 3.ª República, nos três pilares em que assenta a proteção patrimonial daquele monumento, prevista, de modo especial, no referido diploma de 1933. Procura contribuir para uma revisão do universo dos pelourinhos portugueses, em primeiro lugar, através da elaboração de um inventário corrigido e aumentado dos monumentos que efetivamente existem e existiram em Portugal, e, em segundo lugar, através do levantamento exaustivo das localidades do país que poderão ter tido essa prerrogativa. Por fim, fornece um diagnóstico do parque nacional de pelourinhos à altura da realização deste trabalho (2018-2024).This doctoral thesis constitutes the logical and chronological extension of my master’s dissertation written in 2014. This study analyses the impact of Decree-Law No. 23122, from 11 October 1933, on the plans for classification, listing, conservation and restoration of pelourinhos (pillories) within mainland and insular Portugal, over the half century spanning since the 25th April 1974 Revolution. Structured as a diachronic and heuristic analysis, it aims to understand how the lifeworld of the Portuguese pelourinho evolved throughout the Third Portuguese Republic, according to the three principles upon which the heritage preservation of this monument rested, as specifically established in the aforementioned 1933 law. It seeks to contribute to a revision of the universe of Portuguese pelourinhos, first and foremost, through the elaboration of a corrected and expanded listing of these monuments as they effectively exist and have existed in Portugal, and secondly, as an exhaustive inventory of locations within the country which might have borne out that prerogative.
