Although the cliff littoral prevails, there are some sandy systems associated with lagoons that are worth visiting, both because of their extension and because of the unbalanced situation and environmental vulnerability. The dynamics of the coastal systems in this exposed littoral and the management and land-use problems are the main reasons for the present environmental conflicts: (i) coastal erosion (natural and maninduced), first reported in the XIX century, which led to heavy defence structures and partial or total destruction of coastal systems, (ii) the infilling of the estuaries and lagoons, promoting their eutrophism and risking the local aquaculture communities. The present-day dynamics and Quaternary evolution are the main topics, as well as coastal zone management and conservation.engconference object
