Nesse sentido, as plataformas de Educação a Distância têm demonstrado ser um excelente recurso que vai ao encontro de uma educação centrada no aluno, que aposta no desenvolvimento de uma aprendizagem autónoma, interativa e multimédia. É neste cenário que vem sendo comprovado o papel central das novas tecnologias para o ensino das línguas e foi neste sentido que nasceu o projeto Cursos de PLNM a distância no ensino básico e secundário levado a cabo pela Ciberescola da Língua Portuguesa, em parceria com a Direção-Geral de Educação. Em 2013-2014 dá-se a implementação do projeto Ciberescola da Língua Portuguesa no 1.º Ciclo, e como projeto-piloto, envolveu, nesta primeira fase, quatro escolas públicas do 1.º Ciclo, orientando-se para alunos de Português Língua Não Materna. É dentro deste quadro que toma forma o presente trabalho que pretende contribuir para o desenvolvimento do vocabulário relacionado com as disciplinas curriculares, através de um trabalho sistemático desenvolvido na plataforma da Ciberescola (www.ciberescola.com). O trabalho de investigação está estruturado em três momentos: (i) teste prévio, em que se diagnostica o conhecimento lexical, dentro da área de Estudo do Meio; (ii) período de intervenção, no qual os alunos são sujeitos a várias atividades que visam colmatar as falhas detetadas; (iii) o mesmo teste para verificação da aprendizagem. O período de intervenção foi constituído por uma sequência de cinco aulas a distância, tendo os alunos sido confrontados com diversos estímulos, atividades e exercícios interativos bem como comunicação por videoconferência e chat. No teste final (o pós-teste) foram analisadas as alterações face à situação inicial. Os resultados obtidos mostram claramente que os alunos alargaram o seu vocabulário sobre o tema trabalhado, os animais. This same background entailed the implementation of the project Portuguese as Non Native Language Online Courses in elementary and secondary public schools, a project promoted and managed by Ciberescola da Língua Portuguesa in partnership with General Directorate for Education – Ministry of Education of Portugal. In the school year of 2013/2014 the project was run in four primary schools as a pilot study, targeting non native language students. This frame shapes the present study which aims to contribute for a more accurate knowledge of the process of acquiring vocabulary curricula-related/for specific purposes, using resources displayed in Ciberescola platform, in a systematic way. This research study is structured in three main stages: (i) Students take a pre-test in order to assess their previous lexical knowledge concerning the subject “Environmental Studies”; (ii) Students attend classes performing different activities, tackling difficulties detected (interventional period); (iii) Students take a follow-up-test in order to check the effectiveness of the interventional period. Interventional period consisted in five online classes where students were exposed to multiple stimuli, performed different activities and made interactive exercises. All these activities were combined with real-time communication with their teacher, using a videoconferencing service, including microphone, webcam and chat. The post-test results were analysed and alterations towards the pre-test results registered.
