As características da Web 2.0 favorecem o uso de boas práticas educativas como a colaboração e a participação ativa dos alunos na construção das suas próprias representações mentais. Esta dissertação centrou-se na utilização na disciplina de História de três ferramentas da Web 2.0 (Toonlet, GoAnimate e podcasts) e descreve a forma como uma turma do sétimo ano do Ensino Básico as usou para a criação dos seus próprios conteúdos. Os resultados obtidos sugerem que o trabalho com estas ferramentas promoveu a motivação para aprender, a criatividade e mudanças positivas na relação dos alunos com a disciplina de História, como se pode verificar nas entrevistas, nas opiniões expressas pelos alunos nos seus relatórios finais e na análise dos trabalhos realizados durante o ano lectivo. Os alunos consideraram que as aulas tinham sido mais motivadoras e úteis. Outros resultados importantes dizem respeito à dificuldade que os alunos mostraram em resumir a informação encontrada, em deixar a mentalidade de “caçador recolector” e na utilização do Toonlet e do GoAnimate devido ao facto de estas ferramentas se encontrarem em inglês. Web 2.0 technologies gives teachers and students access to a vast array of tools that can be used to implement new ways of teaching and learning and help students develop both basic and higher order thinking skills. Web 2.0 characteristics support principles of good teaching and learning like collaboration and students’ active participation in the building of their own mental representations. This dissertation focused on enabling students to create their own content and describes the use of three Web 2.0 tools (Toonlet, GoAnimate and podcasts) by a class of Portuguese seventh graders in the history classroom. The findings suggest that the use of these tools by the students promoted motivation to learn, creativity and positive changes in the students’ relation with history, as evidenced through interviewing, opinions expressed in the students final reports and analysis of the products created during the school year. The students found that the classes were more effective and engaging.
