O presente trabalho apresenta um estudo sobre a utilização de clássicos da
literatura no jardim-de-infância. Pretendemos aproximar as crianças de obras literárias
de qualidade e obras da Literatura Clássica Universal, através de adaptações, e
comprovar, na prática, como aceitam e reagem a estas propostas consideradas, por
vezes, ousadas e inadequadas a tão tenras idades.
Nos três primeiros capítulos abordamos um conjunto de temas que enquadram a
problemática abordada. Focamos a questão da leitura e das actividades de contar
durante a infância e o papel do adulto enquanto mediador. Debatemos ainda o papel das
adaptações de obras clássicas e dos problemas que geralmente se colocam nessa área.
Abordamos finalmente o desenho infantil como forma de registo, na medida em que
uma parte significativa do percurso desenvolvido se consubstanciou nos muitos registos
dessa natureza que as crianças realizaram a partir do contacto com os textos literários.
O quarto capítulo apresenta a experiência realizada com um grupo de crianças,
descrevendo-se e analisando-se a recepção das adaptações de textos literários. Mais não
fizemos do que oferecer-lhe livros, os melhores, lê-los e deixá-las lançar-se à obra,
construir semelhanças, constituir relações, acumular imagens, participar de um jogo
lúdico. Fundimos o lúdico com o pedagógico, com a convicção de ser esta a via mais
eficaz na consolidação e apreensão de valores fundamentais na formação da criança e o
caminho capaz de a levar a agir na sociedade de forma crítica, activa e séria.
Propusemos-lhe um percurso em que a relação entre livros se fez naturalmente, dada a
vitalidade das obras clássicas em estudo, permitindo-lhe desfrutar de uma grande
multiplicidade de leituras na procura de sentidos, compreensão das mensagens e
satisfação da curiosidade, abrindo-lhe caminho pela fruição de leitura. Aproximámos
obras e figuras da literatura clássica e vimo-la fabricar alegremente o seu próprio saber e
desfrutar de uma aventura literária.
The present work presents a study on the use of classic literature in kindergarten.
We intend to bring the children close to literary works of quality and works of Universal
Classical Literature through adaptations and prove, in practice, how they accept and
respond to these kind of proposals, sometimes considered inadequate to such young
ages.
In the first three chapters we cover a range of themes that frame the issues
addressed. We focus on the question of reading and counting activities during childhood
and the role of the adult as a mediator. We discuss as well the role of adaptations of
classic works and the problems that often arise in this area. We address finally the
children's drawing as a form of register because a significant part of the work done with
the children’s group was consolidated in many records of that nature.
The fourth chapter presents the experiment conducted with a group of children,
describing and analyzing the response to adaptations of literary texts. We did not do
more than offer books - the best - and read them. Afterwards, the children were allowed
to work on their own, building similarities, making relationships, drawing images, and
participating in a playful game. In this work, the playful and the instruction were
combined, believing that this is the most effective way to consolidate core values in
children education and the path capable of leading them to act in a critical and active
way in the society. We proposed an approach to books build on several steps in a
continuous, systematic and gradual way, in which the relationship between the child and
books is a natural one given the vitality of the classics presented in the study. As a
result, we allowed the infant to enjoy a wide variety of readings in finding ways,
understanding the messages and satisfying curiosity, opening the way through the
enjoyment of reading.
