[S.l.]: [s.n.], 2021. 458 p. http://hdl.handle.net/10400.2/11701 urn:tid:101673205 101673205 O presente estudo tem por objeto o regresso, de forma voluntária, de migrantes naturais da ilha do Faial à sua ilha de origem, preferencialmente, desde o início do século XXI, em resultado de migrações internacionais e/ou internas. Este trabalho de investigação, partindo da incontornável realidade migratória (internacional e interna) associada ao arquipélago dos Açores, tem objetivos exploratórios (de levantamento e identificação de situações de retorno no período em estudo, relativamente à comunidade em apreço), descritivos (de caracterização da situação dos ex-migrantes – emigrantes e migrantes internos – regressados ao arquipélago) e explicativos (de verificação, análise e avaliação das dinâmicas de regresso à região de origem). Os objetivos elencados permitirão focar os aspetos mais relevantes do fenómeno da migração de retorno à ilha do Faial, designadamente, as causas – e sua relação com o contexto em que, quer a partida, quer o regresso se dão – os impactos e a sua continuidade, tendo presente que a contemporaneidade tem vindo a configurar novas formas de mobilidade, às quais o arquipélago não é indiferente. A opção por este tema surge porquanto o retorno não é uma matéria frequentemente investigada, ou facilmente quantificável; daí que o seu estudo represente um valioso contributo para ampliar o espectro de conhecimento sobre esta realidade. Esta investigação tem a particularidade de alicerçar as duas tipologias migratórias – internacional e interna – recorrentemente tratadas em separado, bem como levou à proposta de uma nova tipologia no estudo das migrações – a migração dual –, procurando estabelecer conexões entre os três tipos de ex-migrantes e assumindo o elemento ‘regresso’ uma importância preponderante na ligação entre tipologias. O facto de não existirem estudos com esta abordagem, no contexto insular açoriano, torna este estudo único, revestindo-se da maior relevância para a comunidade científica, para a sociedade em geral e para a comunidade açoriana em particular, o contributo que o mesmo representa para o conhecimento deste fenómeno migratório. The present study aims at the voluntary return of migrants from the island of Faial to their island of origin, preferably, since the beginning of the 21st century, as result of international and/or internal migrations. This research work, starting from the unavoidable migratory reality (international and internal) related to the Azores archipelago, has exploratory objectives (survey and identification of return situations in the period under study), descriptive objectives (characterization of the situation of ex-migrants – emigrants and internal migrants – who have returned to the archipelago) and explanatory objectives (of verification, analysis and evaluation of the returning dynamics to the region of origin). The listed objectives will allow to focus on the most relevant aspects of the phenomenon of return migration to the island of Faial, namely, the causes – and respective relation with the context in which, both departure and return take place – the impacts and its continuity, taking in account that contemporaneity has been configuring new forms of mobility, to which the archipelago is not indifferent. The choice for this theme arises since the return is not a frequently investigated subject, nor easily quantifiable; therefore, its study represents a valuable contribution to broaden the spectrum of knowledge regarding this reality. This investigation has the particularity of linking the two migratory components – international and internal – which are repeatedly treated separately, as well as the proposal of a new typology within the study of migration – dual migration –, seeking to establish eventual connections among the three types of ex-migrants, with the element 'return' assuming a preponderant importance in the link among migratory types.
