[S.l.]: [s.n.], 2020. 180 p. http://hdl.handle.net/10400.2/10662 urn:tid:202707423 202707423 As alterações climáticas, enquanto fenómeno multidimensional e complexo, desafiam as sociedades a conhecer e antecipar os seus impactes atuais e futuros, de modo a identificar as medidas e estratégias capazes de as enfrentar, seja pela mitigação, seja pela adaptação. A presente dissertação, centrando-se no domínio das perceções dos agentes locais ligados ao sector agrícola, pretendeu identificar e compreender, a partir da sua posição e perspetivas, quais os impactes das alterações climáticas no sector agrícola e, consequentemente, quais as estratégias de adaptação a essas alterações na região delimitada pelo município do Cadaval, território rural marcadamente agrícola, e, por isso, vulnerável aos efeitos das alterações climáticas. Recorrendo a um inquérito por questionário aplicado a agricultores locais, procuramos caracterizar as suas perceções relativamente às alterações climáticas, seus impactes e vulnerabilidades atuais e futuras na atividade agrícola. Recorremos ainda, em 25 de outubro de 2019, à realização de um grupo focal com nove stakeholders locais, que incluiu representantes das organizações de produtores agrícolas e florestais, das adegas cooperativas, do ordenamento florestal e do território, de grupos de apoio ao financiamento e de associações cívicas e ambientais, com o objetivo de conhecer as suas perceções sobre as alterações climáticas, quais os impactes locais, bem como as suas posições face à adaptação e mitigação. Em termos gerais, as informações recolhidas permitem-nos constatar que as alterações climáticas são percebidas essencialmente como resultado da ação humana e os nossos respondentes estão cientes dos efeitos dessas alterações na agricultura, que referem já se fazem sentir. Desconhecem, no entanto, o processo de emissão de gases de efeito estufa (GEE) da atividade agrícola, o que os impede de identificar os processos de mitigação dessas emissões. Em relação ao futuro, os agricultores inquiridos temem sobretudo a quebra da produtividade nos pomares, a falta de disponibilidade de água e a falta de frio no Inverno, necessário a uma floração regular. Por outro lado, referem que com as alterações climáticas a produção vitivinícola poderá beneficiar de um incremento de produção. Em suma, os agricultores e stakeholders envolvidos na pesquisa, estão cientes dos efeitos das alterações climáticas, manifestam-se disponíveis para a mudança de práticas agrícolas e entendem ter uma palavra a dizer nas tomadas de decisão sobre a adaptação às alterações climáticas no sector agrícola. Climate change, as multidimensional and complex phenomenon, challenge social communities to get acquainted and anticipate their current and future impacts in order to identify the measures and strategies capable of facing it, whether by mitigation or by adaptation. The present dissertation, focusing on the field of perceptions of local agents linked to the agricultural sector, aims to identify and understand, from their position and perspectives, which are the impacts of climate change on agriculture and, consequently, what are the strategies to adapt to these changes in the region bounded by the municipality of Cadaval, a rural county with a markedly agricultural land use and, therefore, vulnerable to the effects of climate change. Using a questionnaire survey applied to local farmers, we seek to characterize their perceptions regarding climate change, and its current and future impacts and vulnerabilities on agricultural activity. We also resorted to the realization of a focus group with nine local stakeholders in order to know their perception of climate change, its local impacts, as well as their position in relation to adaptation and mitigation, which took place on October 25, 2019 and included representatives of producer organizations, cooperative wineries, technicians of forestry and territory planning, financing support groups and civic and environmental associations. In general terms, the information collected allows us to highlight the following characteristics: climate change is perceived essentially as a result of human action and our respondents are well aware of the effects of these changes on agriculture, which most claim are already felt. There is some shortcoming in information, in particular on greenhouse gas emissions processes in agriculture which prevents them from identifying the necessary mitigation processes. Regarding the future, the farmers surveyed fear mainly the drop in productivity in orchards, the lack of water availability, and the lack of cold in winter, necessary for regular blossoming. On the other hand, they state that with climate change, vineyards may benefit from an increase in production.
